Blade-Form or Plate-Form

Though not as popular today as the root-form dental implants,
the blade-form or plate-form dental implants are utilized in
patients with limited bone mass in the area of desired treatment
or if certain vital anatomical landmarks prevent root-form
implants to be placed. In its utmost generic and simplistic
description, a blade-form implant consists of one flat rectangular
metal with one or two protruding prongs where it will support
crowns or bridges. The "blade" side of the implant is the part
that is inserted into the bone.

Thanks to modern advances in medical and dental practice and
technology, patients are often recommended to proceed with
bone grafting procedure so that the limited bone mass could be
"reconstructed" in order that root-form implants could be utilized.
